Shanon, Kayla and I went to this awesome little Kenyan place in North Park. I love trying new places and ethnic food is always a huge win win in my book. When the food came Kayla told us to smell it I told her I couldn't or I might just straight face plant into it. It smelled SO GOOD! YUM.
Super fun night! I think it's safe to say we'll be back soon :)

Good Fridays :)
I had a feeling today was going to be an awesome day. It's so beautiful out!
Liz and I had a picnic lunch at the park overlooking the ocean a block from my work. I brought a salad and pita bread and she brought sliced fruit, triscuits, and licorice. YUM! We both joked about how this would be a blog post...later today I'm biking home and have a soccer game tonight. YEEEEEE! All good things.
Happy Friday everyone!

Meat Satchels
I made salmon with a lemon honey glaze and a special whisked sour cream lemon sauce for dinner. Ben refuses to eat fish and wouldn't try it.
Instead, he busted out a large hunk of prosciutto, pickles, peppercinis and a toasted everything bagel with pepper jack cheese. After carefully chopping up the pickle he began to layer his meat on the bagel so that half the meat hung off the edge. He then laid the the pickles carefully inside while explaining that pickles always fall out. So he invented a meat satchel to keep it all inside. Safe and snug. He then wrapped up all the pickles in the prosciutto topped it off and wa-la! No pickles fell out...what a pro.

Graffiti Art
Recently Ben has gotten really into graffiti art, tagging, and creating spray paint stencils. He's so creative and talented and I love to see him working on projects again. So after he showed me a couple really awesome stencils he had created of friends he inspired me to break out my xacto blade and start creating as well.
I completed a couple different cool stencils and am now searching for the next image I want to create. Ben gave me a hard time for using images off the internet so the next one will be 100 percent original. Ezra liked my stencil so much he wanted to do one too and I helped Megan start one last night.
In that same line of thought Exit Through the Gift Shop a documentary about street art featuring Ben's favorite graffiti artist Banksy was up for an Oscar the other night and although it didn't win I'm excited to see it.
Bansky is a politically motivated graffiti artist who has become so acclaimed building owners who are fortunate enough to be tagged have gone to such extreme lengths as to saw out the brick wall that displays the art to sell it. The kicker though is that to this day no one knows who he is, where he lives, or what he looks like. Crazy.....

Lame Duck
I've been an uncharacteristically bad blogger as of late but please forgive me because even at home on winter break life is hectic. I woke up this morning a little nervous and anxious because my gallery show is tonight and I've never done anything like it before. I also have this fear that no one will be there and Cafe 976 will be like....So how'd we get stuck with this loser with no friends? But loser or not they've got me and I feel confident in my work so I just try to keep reminding myself of that.
As for life in general I'm at a weird cross road stage. I feel like I've made this whole second life for myself in Pennsylvania and now that it's almost over I feel a little like a lame duck. I know this seems a little debbie downer of me but I don't really see the point in trying to make new connections, friends, or start relationships because in four short months I have to give it all up and move 3,000 miles away back to San Diego. Where, I might add, nearly none of my friends still live.
